9 Ways to Get Attention Mis-Using Twitter
There are plenty of things you can learn from the big boys when it comes to Twitter. We like to monitor the big brands to see what they are doing so we can learn from them. While we haven’t tried using these “strategies” on any of our accounts, they have definitely proven to be effective for getting a lot of attention on Twitter.
1. Use Business Account on For Personal Use
When you’re managing multiple accounts, it’s easy to forget what account your posting FROM. What’s important is that the maximum number of people know you’re planning on #gettngslizzerd. Look at this great example from The American Red Cross
2. Spam Everyone
We all want to share our products and services and there’s no such thing as too much! If you’re going to tweet, always make it about you! 80/20 rule be damned!
3. Use Tragedies For Promotions
This is a great way to get a lot of RT’s your followers will appreciate it!! Look at how creative Gap was.
4.Use Your Business Account For Personal Politics
When Michael Jordan was asked why he wasn’t more vocal about his democratic beliefs he answered by saying “Republicans buy shoes too.” What does Jordan know about marketing and selling. Blast out those divisive political tweets!
5. Retweet From Anyone
There’s always a chance that the account singing your praises might be a crazy racist. Don’t let something like that get in the way of reaching out to one of raving your fans. Oreo shows us how us how to be inclusive and not exclusive.
6. Send Annoying DM’s
Dm’s are fun! Especially when they’re just an attempt to get your new follower to read your blog, watch a video, or even better follow you on another social media platform!
7. Respond To Everyone.
It’s important that you respond to your followers, in a way you think they will relate to. Dominos joined the fun with one of their followers
8.Don’t Respond To Anyone.
Another approach is to never respond to anyone, let them talk amongst themselves. Your followers need to know they should just be grateful your even tweeting.
9. Hijack Hashtags
Hashtags are a great way to spread the word about trending topics on social media. Especially ones about social change. Kenneth Coles shows us how to use hashtags as an “opportunity” to make it about your brand.
